Founder and editor · Writes and tests every page

Sandeep started BodyTypeCalcs to give people a body shape answer they can check. Each calculator shows the measurements it used and the rule it applied, so you can see why you got your result and what to do if you sit between two shapes.

He is responsible for everything published on the site: the calculators, the shape guides, the outfit guides and the measurement charts. When a page changes, he makes the change himself and the date at the top of the page moves with it.

What he writes about

  • Female body shapes: hourglass, pear, apple, rectangle, inverted triangle, spoon and triangle, and how to tell close shapes apart.
  • Male body types: trapezoid, V shape, rectangle, triangle and oval, and how to dress each one.
  • Measurement tools: waist to hip ratio, waist to height ratio, body measurements, body frame size, dress size and bra size.
  • Style guides: outfit ideas for each body shape and the Kibbe body types.

How he researches

Sandeep builds each tool on a published method and names it on the page, so you can look it up yourself. The main sources are:

  • Body shape rules: the Female Figure Identification Technique (FFIT) from apparel research at North Carolina State University.
  • Waist to hip ratio: the World Health Organization thresholds of 0.85 for women and 0.90 for men.
  • Average measurements: body measurement data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
  • Body fat estimate: the US Navy circumference formula.
  • Frame size and ideal weight: the wrist measurement method listed by MedlinePlus, and the Hamwi formula.

Where no research standard exists, such as body shape thresholds for men, he sets the rule himself and says so on that page.

How every tool is tested

Before a calculator goes live, Sandeep runs it with sample measurements for each possible result and checks that the answer matches the written rule. He tests it in inches and centimetres and on phones and computers.

Every worked example in a guide is run through the same calculator you use, so the numbers in the text and the tool always agree. If a reader reports an error, he checks it against the source and fixes the page.

What he does not do

Sandeep is not a doctor or a dietitian, and the site does not give medical advice. Health figures such as waist to hip ratio and body fat are screening tools, not a diagnosis. For anything about your health, speak to a qualified professional. See the disclaimer for more.

No body shape is better than another. His guides describe proportions and how clothes fit them, not bodies that need fixing.
